The design of Stick is characterized by its thin and knotted appearance, reminiscent of tree branches. The color contrast between the body and handle further enhances its unique and aesthetic appeal. The design's uniqueness lies not only in its appearance but also in its ability to transform minimal and modern spaces, giving them a different atmosphere.
The faucet basin is made of brass, with a 7-8 micron nickel coating applied to the body, spout, and handle. The spout and handle are coated with a 0.3 micron matte black PVD method, while the body is coated with a 0.3 micron matte white PVD method. Despite its unique appearance, Stick functions as a standard faucet, with the angled position of the spout not affecting the flow direction of water.
The design project began in November 2015 and was completed in January 2016 in Istanbul, Turkey. The designers aimed to create a unique piece for individuals who prefer unique and different details in their living quarters. The design of Stick is a reflection of this preference, offering a unique alternative for those who love to express their style through the objects they own.
One of the challenges faced during the design process was incorporating the character of tree branches into the entire body of the faucet. To function as a faucet, a cartridge mechanism was necessary, which was hidden inside the body. This resulted in a larger body, preventing the designers from fully reflecting the thin sense of a tree branch. However, they managed to maintain a design balance by imitating the character of branches only on the spout and handle.
Stick was awarded the Golden A' Bathroom Furniture and Sanitary Ware Design Award in 2016, a testament to its outstanding design and trendsetting creation. The award recognizes products and ideas that advance art, science, design, and technology, embodying extraordinary excellence and significantly impacting the world with their desirable characteristics.
